Field Technician (Independent Contractor)

Our growing IT company is looking for experienced computer technicians to service and enlist new clients as we look to expand throughout the state of Indiana. This independent contractor position would suit someone with an IT background who enjoys their independence, but does not want the hassles of running their own business.
Job Description Summary:
- Remote and telephone client support
- On-site client support
- Research new products and services, as required
- Participate in sales and marketing efforts
- Participate in regular training workshops and seminars
How We Work:
For our statewide IT service operations, we run a virtual office with consultants in regular contact with one another and meeting regularly. You would be responsible for marketing our services to leads, generating new leads, and servicing those clients, as well as existing clients that may already be in your service area.
This initially would be an independent contractor position, with full-time potential for the right individual.
Technical Skills:
- Experience managing and supporting Windows-based desktops, servers, and networks and Windows-based software programs, especially in small and medium business environments (2+ proven years hands-on experience preferred)
- Up-to-date knowledge of Windows operating systems (2000, XP, Vista, 7) and common business software programs essential
- Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving and research abilities required
- Minimum of A+ Certification required. Additional CompTIA certifications, including Network+ are preferred. Microsoft and Cisco certifications a plus.
- Associate’s degree or better from an accredited college or university in an IT-related field
Other Skills/Requirements:
- Excellent people skills. You don’t need to be Dale Carnegie, but you must be comfortable and personable around clients, understand the need for a solid professional image, and clients should feel comfortable around you. You should be able to explain technical concepts in plain, understandable terms.
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Interest in constantly learning and growing, with the ability to learn quickly
- Ability to sell our services to qualified leads, as well as find new leads
- Discipline and dependability. Must be able to reliably respond to trouble tickets, log calls and hours, and provide complete documentation for work performed.
- Entrepreneurial spirit and drive
- Independent thinker
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects at once and keep all of them moving forward
- Must hold valid Indiana driver’s license
- Must have a reliable means of transportation
- Background check and drug testing will be performed
